New Investment in Cilegon

Air Liquide increases its presence in West Java, Indonesia

Air liquide, the world leader in gases for industry, health and the environment, is expanding its production capacity and gas pipeline network in the Cilegon Basin in West Java, Indonesia.

A new Air Separation Unit (ASU) capable of producing more than 2,000 tonnes per day (tpd) of gaseous and liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon will join two existing ASUs and a 440 tpd liquefier to meet customer's demand and leverage on new opportunities in the basin. Scheduled to be commissioned in 2013, the new investment will double the gas supply capacity in Cilegon when operational.

Cilegon is the centre of Indonesia's heavy and chemical industries with many steel and petrochemical plants operating in the area. Air Liquide has made its Indonesian headquarters in Cilegon, attracted by its comprehensive infrastructure and strategic location. Air Liquide will invest 500 billion rupiah in the Cilegon expansion project which is in addition to the 700 bilion rupiah announced recently in March.

Xu Yan, President Director, Air Liquide Indonesia said, "This new investment will further strengthen Air Liquide's position as the leading industrial gas supplier in Indonesia and demonstrates our long-term commitment to growing our presence here. We are thankful of the relationships we have forged with customers, particularly in the field of steel and chemical manufacturing."
